The Motor Racing Capital of the World, Speedway, Indiana, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, joined forces to explore the redevelopment of historic Main Street in downtown Speedway, and to explore the potential of expanded retail and entertainment opportunities adjacent to the famous race track. KPA participated with the master planning team in the development of the Site Analysis portion of the overall master planning process.

KPA provided field work and developed graphic plans to display the physical, environmental, geologic and visual conditions inherent to the site. These documents became part of the larger planning process that lead to the final acceptance and adoption by the Redevelopment Commission. The SpeedZone Master Plan won a Merit Award from the Indiana Chapter of American Society of Landscape Architects for Unbuilt Works. Construction is underway for the redevelopment of Main Street Speedway.
