James F. D. Lanier Mansion State Historic Site Master
Plan
Madison, Indiana
The Master Plan was developed
to update and provide for the short and long term recommendations for
the Improved Accessibility and Pedestrian Circulation to ADA Standards,
both to and through this historically and culturally significant State
Historical Site located on the north bank of the Ohio River, in downtown
Madison, Indiana. The Lanier Mansion Master Plan also provided for the
exploration, evaluation and recommended solutions for additional site
improvements, visual enhancements, functional and security issues, and
for the overall management and maintenance of the Historic Site. The re-establishment
of the historic alignment of First (High) Street, as a pedestrian corridor
on the north side of the mansion, was also a priority for the plan. The
plan was prepared for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Divisions
of Museums and Historic Sites, and the Division of Engineering.
